The Golden Eaglets of Nigeria Sunday advanced to the semis of the FIFA U-17 world cup in Chile by defeating their counterparts from Brazil 3-0. The game played at the Estadio Sausalito in Vina del Mar stadium saw the Eaglets in control for most part of the game.
The defending champions scored all three goals in a six minutes spell that left their opponent stunned at the pace of the attack.
Once again striker victor Osimhen proved how profilic he is by heading Nigeria into the lead in the 29th minutes to bring his tally in competition to eight, coolly converting a cross from Zakari. Moments later he turned provider after holding out the Brazilians in the defence and flicking an overhead pass to Michael to flash a scissors kick pass the on looking Brazilian keeper. Three minutes later, Anumudu curling shot outside the box was fluffed by the Brazilian keeper for Nigeria’s third goal of the match.
After the break the Brazilian pushed men forward but the Eaglet held their nerves and came even closer on several occassion to adding to the tally. Brazils best chance of the game came through a free kick from Evander which was parred to the cross bar by the inform Nigeria keeper.
The Eaglets will meet either Ecuador or Mexico on Thursday.
