FIDA, NAPTIP call for united front against human trafficking

The International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), Ikeja branch, in collaboration with the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), has called on other government agencies to join the fight against human trafficking in Nigeria.

The appeal was made during a one-day training program themed “Strengthening Partnership in Combating Human Trafficking”, held Wednesday in Lagos.

The event, organised by FIDA Ikeja’s Anti-Human Trafficking Committee in partnership with NAPTIP, aimed to equip members with deeper knowledge of the issue and highlight the need for unified action among stakeholders.

Speaking during the training, chairperson of FIDA, Ikeja, Mrs. Nnenna Eze, stated that human trafficking cannot be eradicated by a single agency.

“What we are doing today is a form of partnership, because from the training we’ve seen how much NAPTIP is already doing. If other government agencies join forces, it will significantly strengthen the fight,” she said.

Mrs. Eze stated that the session was also meant to expose members to the rising incidents of human trafficking, particularly affecting women and children.
