FG to empower 650,000 youth with digital skills, others – Minister

The federal government is believed to be making plans to empower no fewer than 650,000 youth with technical, vocational and digital skills in the next two years, blueprint has learnt.

The Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Ahmad, stated this during the commissioning of a Community Learning Centre in Ikot Abasi local government area Wednesday.

He said the essence of the empowerment is to equip the youth with the necessary skill required to meet the emerging industrial and labour needs.

Ahmed, represented by the vice chancellor, Federal University of Technology, Ikot Abasi, Prof. Leo Daniel, stated that President Bola Tinubu has approved the release of 120 billion naira to boost the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) agenda in the country.

At the commissioned community learning centre, the minister said it will serve multiple purposes which include: skill acquisition, digital literacy, adult education and youth empowerment.

He stated further that the effort becomes necessary to increase access to quality education and foster inclusive learning opportunities for all.
