FG to build over N2trn houses for low-income Nigerians – FHA official 




Executive Director, Finance and Accounts of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Dr Matthias Byuan, has disclosed that President Ahmed Bola Tinubu has approved over N2 trillion for the construction of affordable houses for Nigerians.

Byuan disclosed this in an interview with newsmen at NKST Mbawa in Guma local government area of Benue state during a thanksgiving organised for the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Sen. George Akume.

The ED emphasised that the initiative by President Tinubu aims to provide shelter for low-income earners nationwide, spanning the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

He said the president championed the project in demonstration of his commitment to improving housing accessibility to all Nigerians.

Dr. Byuan pledged to ensure seamless financing, emphasising President Tinubu’s genuine intentions for the country.

“The goal is to see tangible progress before the year concludes, with pockets of affordable housing units dotting the entire nation.”

He commended the SGF George Akume as a stalwart in Nigerian politics, describing him as an indelible institution in Benue politics.

Dr. Byuan highlighted Senator Akume’s role in fostering unity in Benue state and further expressed readiness to stand by his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s potential candidacy in 2027.

Similarly, the Minister for Water Resources and Sanitation, Professor Terlumun Utsev announced commencement of work on the construction of River Benue Buruku crossing point, noting that contractors handling the project have already moved to site.

He said the federal government has approved the construction of water projects across all local government areas of Benue state, stressing that each senatorial zone of the state is to have a dam constructed for irrigation to enable all year round farming.

The minister commended efforts by the president to ensure a better Nigeria and thanked Senator Akume for being a role model to him and a father.
