FG signs agreement with private sector on tech domestication

The Permanent Secretary Federal Ministry of Science and Technology, Mr. Bitrus Bako Nabasu, has said that the Ministry would continue to engage organised private sector in the implementation of its mandate.

Nabasu said at the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry and Agro and Allied Green Technology Resource Centre Ltd on Monday in Abuja.

Chief Executive Officwr of the company, Dr.  Emeka Okengwu led its management to the signing ceremony.

He further said that the Public Private Partnership between the Ministry and the private sectors will enhance economic growth and ensure the domestication of technologies.

 According to the Permanent Secretary, the ministry through the Department of Bio resources Technology had a discussion with Agro and Allied Green Technology Resource centre ltd to engage Agencies under the Ministry in the initiative that will help arrest poverty, create employment and generate wealth especially to our youths.

Nabasu further said that the Public private partnership between the Ministry and the private sectors will enhance economic growth and ensure the domestication of technologies.

The memorandum of understanding between the ministry and Agro and Allied Green Technology Resources centre limited will also extend Technology support programmes to other sectors of the economy like public and private sectors in the production of cosmetics at both national and sub national levels.

Nabasu added that the Ministry and the Parties concerned will enter into profitable and viable Agro-Allied industries support program across Nigeria.

Earlier, the CEO of Agro and Allied Green Technology resource centre ltd said that Nigeria is richly endowed with agriculture and agro-allied resources.

He however lamented that the country has not been able to drive appreciable benefits from   these mostly unexploited endowments in terms of revenue, employment generation, food security and exports.
