The federal government has announced the sack of all the chief executives of aviation agencies except one and replaced them with some in acting capacity.
A statement issued in Abuja yesterday and signed by the special assistant on media to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Sam Nwaobasi, said the agencies affected are the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT) and Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB).
At FAAN, the former director of projects, Mr. Saleh Dunoma, replaces the former managing director, Mr. George Uriesi, while the erstwhile general manager in charge of procurement at NAMA, Mr. Ibrahim Abdulsalam, takes over from Mr. Nnamdi Udoh as the managing director.
At NCAT, the former government safety inspector and International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Focal Point for Nigeria on line aircraft safety information systems, Capt. Akinyele Caulcrick, takes over from Capt. Chinyere Kalu as rector.
At NCAA, the former commissioner of AIB, Capt. Muhktar Usman, would replace Capt. Fola Akinkuotu as the director general.
However, the director general designate will not take over immediately as the director of airworthiness at NCAA, Mr. Benedict Adeyileka would serve in acting capacity pending Usman’s confirmation by the senate.
At AIB, the former director of licensing at NCAA Dr. Felix Abali takes over from Usman as commissioner. However, the director general of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET), Dr. Anthony Anuforom, was retained.
