The federal government has released funds for payment of operational allowances for troops fighting Book Haram terrorists in the North-east, as well as logistics for the entire operations for the third quarter, 2017.
Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, disclosed this in a special message to troops of Operation Lafiya Dole in the North-east.
The COAS, in a statement signed by the Director Army Public Relations, Brig.-Gen. Sani Usman, said the release of the fund would facilitate the payment of the two months’ operational allowances owed the troops.
The army chief thanked the troops for their “patriotism, patience and understanding,” and further reiterated that he “will ensure that as usual, all funds meant for the troops and the Operation Lafiya Dole will always be paid promptly when received from the appropriate Ministries.”
He said the Nigerian Army High Command under his leadership would continue to remain “responsible, responsive and accountable” to troops’ operational requirements.
Buratai commended the troops for their “bravery, discipline and loyalty,” but urged them to always have confidence and trust on the leadership of the Nigerian Army and the nation.
He also charged the troops to work hard to not only flush out the remnants of the Boko Haram, but also the cyber terrorists.
