FG mulls 30,000mw power generation in 10 years

The Minister of Power, Engr. Saleh Mamman, Tuesday, said the federal government craved to attain 30,000mw power generation and distribution in the next 10 years.

The minister spoke in Abuja when he received the United States Government led by the US Ambassador to Nigeria, Mary Beth Leonard, in his office.

Mamman lamented that liquidity remained a major challenge in the power sector and encouraged the American government to take advantage of the situation by investing especially in the smart metering programme.

The minister, however, expressed appreciation to the US government for its numerous positive involvements in the various sectors of the Nigerian economy.

Earlier, the U.S. Ambassador, Mary Beth Leonard said the Nigerian government needed coordination and regulation of its power sector.

She said America was ready to provide technical assistance in the power value chain.
