The federal government has inaugurated an implementation committee to address the power challenges facing public healthcare facilities.
In a keynote speech delivered weekend in Abuja, the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako, stated the need for reliable electricity to improve healthcare delivery.
He noted that despite government initiatives, such as a 50% electricity subsidy and solar power mini-grids, the challenges persist.
The implementation committee will convene a national stakeholders’ dialogue to develop an integrated energy strategy for the health sector.
He said the dialogue aims to assess the existing power policy environment, gather field experiences, and identify alternative and sustainable solutions.
