The federal government has commended Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina state over the tremendous output in rice production and other grains in the state.
Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh, made the commendation recently in a letter addressed to Governor Aminu Bello Masari.
The letter indicated that the minister expressed satisfaction with the zeal of the Masari administration on agricultural revolution in the state, adding that “the present level of rice production in Katsina is going hand in hand with the Buhari administration’s efforts in improving agriculture in the country.”
Ogbeh said his ministry “is proud of the Katsina state government’s efforts and for joining hands with the federal government to achieve so much in the agriculture sector.”
“We celebrate your Excellency and other members of your team in the state for being the harbingers of change in the agriculture sector,” he said.
He noted that the positive development under the Masari administration “is gladdening and motivating,” adding that “it is evident that a reinvigorated and modernised agriculture sector holds the key to the future well-being in Katsina and the nation given the volatilities and unsustainability of an oil-led economy.”
The minister also said “it is my earnest hope that Katsina will not rest on its oars, but be inspired to do much more in the days and months ahead in order to ensure that the beneficial change currently taking place in the agriculture sector in the state is not only consolidated, but also made irreversible.”
The deputy governor, who is also the Commissioner for Agriculture, QS Mannir Yakubu, in his remarks, expressed happiness over the commendation, saying the gesture from the minster would serve as an encouragement to the state.
According to him, the present administration has already enlisted agriculture into its area of priority.
