FG generates 13bn from land registration fees, other transactions in 8 years

Federal Government has generated over N13 billion from land registration fees, and other transactions from 2015 to date, the Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, has disclosed.

Fashola, who gave the scorecard of his ministry in the last eight years in Abuja on Monday, also disclosed that a total of 6,685 certificates of occupancy were signed within the year under review.

The minister, whose presentation was titled, “Tour of Duty as honourable minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria: A Time and Economic Resource Report (2015-2023)’’, said 3,043 consent were granted in the last eight years.

He said under the National Housing Programme initiated by President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration, a total of 2,870 housing units were completed in the 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

On road, Fashola explained that between 2016 to 2022, a total of 9,290.34 kilomtres of roads were constructed across Nigeria, while 383,431 jobs were created.

He, however, frowned at those who alleged that state governors who seek a refund of money spent on the construction of the Federal roads planned to defraud the Federal government.

Fashola, who said those who are peddling such rumour did not know about it, disclosed that there is equipment to detest when roads were constructed and their quality.
