The federal government has declared Thursday, October 1, this year, as a public holiday to mark the Nigeria’s 55th Independence anniversary.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Abubakar Magaji, made the declaration on behalf of the federal government in a statement issued by the Ministry’s Director of Press, Yusuf Isiaka, yesterday.
The permanent secretary, who congratulated all Nigerians both at home and abroad, also thanked them for their supports to President Muhammadu Buhari in his efforts towards building a peaceful, united and virile nation.
He further urged them to use the occasion of the celebration to pray for peace and unity across the country.
