The federal government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening diagnostic services in the country’s healthcare system.
Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako, stated the crucial role diagnostics play in delivering efficient and effective healthcare services.
Speaking at the National Summit on Diagnostics, Dr. Salako noted Thursday that diagnostic services are essential for accurate disease detection, treatment planning, and patient monitoring.
He called for the integration of diagnostic services into the healthcare delivery system, leveraging multiple technologies and optimising the contribution of diagnostic professionals.
The permanent secretary, Daju Kachollom, represented by the director of Hospital Services, Salaudeen Jimoh, highlighted the challenges facing diagnostic services in Nigeria, including accessibility gaps and limitations in technology and infrastructure.
The summit aimed to evaluate progress, identify obstacles, and formulate strategies to transform Nigeria’s diagnostic landscape.
