FG commends FMC Asaba for providing quality care, training

The Federal Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako, has commended Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Asaba for providing tertiary care services and training and retraining for staff.

The minister gave the commendation when he visited on official working inspection of the tertiary institution in Asaba, Delta state.

Dr. Salako who was received by the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of FMC Asaba, Dr. Victor A. Osiatuma, toured various medical facilities within the institution, expressed happiness for the progress recorded despite prevailing challenges.

According to him, ” FMC Asaba is significantly providing tertiary care and I love their strategic way of training and retraining people for the system. I will like others to copy from them.”

However, he said that ministry will help to upscale their system from soft electric medical system to full electric medical system.

“We are also looking at how to support a mew modern sources of power to federal tertiary institutions , Asaba can be a beneficiary of that. We have seeing those areas we can support them to improve their services and infrastructure.

“I have emphasized that it is not enough to have full building or equipments all over, but most importantly, to provide quality care services to people.

“They must make people feel welcome at all time they come here. Patients that come here must be treated as humans, with a lot of respect and empathy, there are more priority to us than building and achievement.”

Minister also identified the issue of limited space as a major concern to the hospital’s expansion and capacity to integrate new medical innovations.
