The federal government and the Bauchi state government have expressed their support for the Youth Progressive Minds for Better Change Initiative to be launched by it national chairman, Mr Jeffret Akinyele.
The state government has also expressed it readiness to co-host a youth conference on peace and security to be organised by the initiator of the programme in Nigeria for the North east zone.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Student Affairs, Hon. Sani Hassan Mohammed, who confirmed the endorsement said the high level of insurgency confronting the zone demands the support of all stakeholders.
Adding that his office has decided to leverage on the organisations expertise and network to promote strategies on crime and insecurity management at the Bauchi state tertiary institutions and the state in general.
Akinyele said the conference is intended to improve security situation in the country and especially in the northern region and believes that participants will be equipped morally and otherwise to enable them make the country proud wherever they find themselves.
Meanwhile, the government’s bid to improve on it youth development strives, the state has also gone into partnership with the John Utaka foundation in the development of sport among talented youth and children in the state.
Hassan, who stood in for Governor Isa Yuguda during the signing ceremony, said this was in line with the pragmatic thrive of the governor in the area of youth development.
He added that, students with special talents in sports, the less priviledge, the almajiris will benefit from the projects and programmes is expected to be flagged off by the governor soon.
The programme assistant of the John Utaka Foundation, Mr. Bino Julius Wayamdi, stated that the partnership will explore sports, talent hunts, capacity building, charity projects in promoting and sustaining the dreams and aspiration of the chairman of the foundation, John Utaka who currently plays at Silver Sports Turkey.
He further said that the specific areas the foundation will be concentrating include provision of scholarships for young people who cannot afford it; Youth empowerment through the provision of work placements in Nigeria and abroad enabling them to gain accredited training and vocational skills through our international partners; provision of positive activities and support to stimulate young people’s development through arts, culture and sports, from film, football, photography and music and many other ways.
