This year’s Federation of Public Service Games (FEPSGA) being hosted by the Rivers state government could boost the economy of the state.
FEPSPA’s president, Mr. Aloku Amaechi, said this Friday in Port Harcourt while addressing the press on the Games, adding that it was gratifying to note that the state was hosting the event twice since 1980, when the first Games was held.
Amaechi said the state would “gain so much, especially in the growth of its GDP, as the whole country would converge on Port Harcourt, the state capital.
He disclosed that the event would begin on November 27 and end on December 5, adding that it would contribute immensely to the growth of the state’s economy.
The FEPSGA boss said in the Games tagged “Simplified Rivers 2024” participants would compete for honours in 16 difference sports including scrabble, football, draught, squash, basketball, volleyball, handball, tennis, badminton, and swimming.
Also speaking, the Secretary to the State Government, Tammy Danagogo, said the governor was delighted to host the Games, as it would be an opportunity to unite the country’s workforce as a sports-loving governor.
He equally said the state was ready to host the event and assured that all participants would experience Rivers’ hospitality. Also speaking, the state’s Head of Service, Dr. George Nwaeke, called civil servants in the state to ensure that they did the state proud.
