FCT police to the rescue as FEMA continues search

Operatives of the FCT Police Command have rescued three people from a building that collapsed late on Monday at Unity House in the Garki area of the territory.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Josephine Adeh, who made this known in a press statement, said: “The FCT Command hereby confirms that yesterday, July 1, 2024, at about 8:40 p.m., there was a building collapse at Unity House, Area 11 by Nkwere Street.

“In response to the distress call, the Commissioner of Police, FCT, CP Benneth Igweh, promptly moved to the scene with multiple patrol teams as first responders to cordon off the area for possible rescue. Three victims were successfully evacuated from the collapsed building and rushed to the hospital for medical care.

“The attention of the National Emergency Management Agency of Nigeria and FCT Development Control have been drawn to the situation, and their personnel have taken charge of the area for robust management of the scene.”

Adeh said further developments would be appropriately communicated in due course.
