Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Permanent Secretary, Dr. Babatope Ajakaiye, has warned all heads of Secretariats, Departments and Agencies (SDAs) under the FCT Administration (FCTA) to block all leakages in order to improve available funds for the development of the Territory.
The Permanent Secretary gave this warning on Monday while receiving briefs from Heads and Directors of some Secretariats, Departments and Agencies in his office.

Ajakaiye lamented that “a leakage may seem small in some cases, but cumulatively poses great danger to the entire system with devastating effects on the residents as well as the visitors on the Territory.”
He reiterated that “these leakages, if contained,” would go a long way in improving the infrastructure and services in the 8,000 square kilometres of the FCT.
“The country desires change and the change is already here: In the words of President Muhammadu Buhari, we should not fear him but fear the consequences of our actions.”
He called for holistic change of altitude by thinking outside the box and being innovative in the approach to government businesses by considering it as a service to humanity.

The permanent secretary further charged the directors and heads of the mandate secretariats to genuinely devise means of doing things proactively now that the country’s economy is dwindling.
He said: “We should all put our thinking caps to be solution providers and think outside the box to spawn buoyant Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) to sustain its operations, because funds are really not there again as it used to be.”
He advised the senior officials of the FCTA not to be possessive by accumulating property or money, but to build legacies that were capable of enduring positive effects on the society and their children.
Blueprint reports that the permanent secretary has so far received briefs from the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC) and the seven Mandate Secretariats.
