‘FCT minister may become 1st Abuja Mayor’

National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), Dr. Ahmed Adamu Muazu, has said that it is most likely that the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Senator Bala Mohammed, becomes the first Mayor of FCT; an appeal the natives of Abuja have always made.
The national chairman said he wished the minister, would go back to Bauchi state to replicate all the good works he has been doing in the FCT.

The National Chairman said this on Wednesday at the Presidential Villa when members of the FCT Traditional Council of Chiefs paid a courtesy call on President Goodluck Jonathan.
His said: “The minister of the federal capital, how I wish this commitment that has been shown will go back to my state which is exactly what I want”
Dr. Muazu said also that from “what we have seen and the endorsement the minister gets from the FCT Traditional Council, who are the peoples’ natural rulers, may be he will be the first Mayor of Abuja”
He therefore enjoined the sitting Senator representing FCT, Senator Philip Tanimu Aduda to just follow him (the minister) because ‘the people have spoken’.

Muazu appreciated the traditional rulers and other stakeholders on their entourage to the Presidential Villa for the resounding support to the FCT Administration and Mr. President.
“As Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, I say thank you to all of you and we pray that your promise will be translated into full and total votes for our party. This is our time and we pray also that you make sure that in your various domains, that there is peace now and forever, especially during elections. We also pray that God will elevate you and guide you.

He said he supports Bala and likes him as against his rumoured dislike of the minister in some quarters, “Before Bala understood me, some people told him that the chairman doesn’t like you and I said to him, one day God would end these rumours. Until Bala came close to me, I was able to prove to him those who don’t like him and that, it is not me. I want to tell Bala that the will of God can never stop… If, it is going to be, it will be,” the national chairman said.
Earlier, Chairman of the FCT Traditional Council and the Ona of Abaji, Alhaji Adamu Baba Yunusa, thanked the President for giving the people Senator Bala Mohammed as minister and urged him (the President) to retain the minister in the Federal Capital Territory.

He therefore appeal to the President to implement the National conference recommendations as it concerns the Federal Capital Territory.
This was contained in a press release signed by the chief press secretary to the Minister of FCT, Muhammad Hazat Sule yesterday.
