FCT indigenous groups pass confidence vote on Wike

The Coalition of FCT Indigenous Groups, and FCT Resident Associations, Thursday, stormed FCDA Secretariat with a vote of confidence on the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Barr Nyesom Wike.

The groups, led by Adeyeye Olugbenga, stated that the gesture was predicated on the objective assessment of the minister’s performance vis a vis the incredible achievements recorded under his leadership within the shortest period in office.

The groups also described Wike’s “many well-intentioned policies outlined for subsequent implementation for the betterment of FCT dwellers,” as heartwarming, saying such tremendous efforts would reposition the capital city into a first-class modern city suitable for all Nigerians and foreigners.

“It is noteworthy that, as a conscious and peace-loving, and patriotic organisation, we call for calm as we reaffirm our unflinching support for the good deeds and intentions of Barr Nyesom Wike as Minister of the FCT.

“We are not unaware of some sponsored, faceless miscreants who were paid to launch vitriolic attacks on the personality of the Hon Minister, and are trying hard to distract him so that the mischievous and corrupt activities that have hindered the fortune of Abuja would become institutionalised.

“We, the patriotic indigenous people and residents of the FCT emphatically dissociate ourselves from the mischief makers as they do not representt our communities in any way. It is known to everyone that the indigenous people of the FCT have never had it this good, from inclusion in political appointments to outstanding initiatives in the areas of agriculture, infrastructure, and security and other developmental strides.

“The plan to distract the Hon Minister and the Minister of State and derail their laudable initiatives has failed. It is true that corruption and nepotism will always fight back when it is threatened with extermination. We are consoled by the Renewed Hope of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu whose mandate for the FCT the current minister has sworn to uphold and execute.

“We shall be at the vanguard of defending the peace and unity being enjoyed currently in the FCT, and we shall resist faceless individuals being sponsored to cause mayhem over here even as we call on the security agencies to adequately rise to the challenge of ensuring that unity prevails in Abuja by protecting it against thugs staging unwarranted and self-motivated protests capable of provoking violence in the FCT,” the groups said.
