FCT FA board set to revamp league

Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Football Association has concluded plans to revamp and the state men’s and women’s leagues so as to attract many sponsors.

Addressing journalists in his office, Chairman of the Association, Abah Mouktar Mohammed, disclosed that the affiliation and league registration fees which is eighty thousand (N80,000) each will be reduced to encourage more clubs to participate in the state’s league.

Abah revealed that the Association will soon start the discovery more talents in women football by encouraging Area Councils to run their women leagues across the nation’s capital where talented and budding players will be given a platform to showcase their skills to the world.

According to him, his era as chairman would bring a soothing relief to academies as registration fees is also reduced to Thirty thousand (N30,000) from Fifty thousand N50,000.

He added that the association has set up a committee to look into how stadiums in all six Area councils can be developed to encourage youth to come to stadium and showcase their talents.

“In our second Board meeting after inauguration we looked at how we can revamp and renew the FCT men and women league. We have also set up a committee who will determine how much the club’s registration and affiliation fees will be because there is need to reduce the price from N80,000, Mouktar told journalists.

“To attract more participants in the women league and also to discover talents, there are plans to allow each Area Council run its own women league where discovered talent will be brought together.

“We have also agreed on reducing registration of academies from fifty thousand to thirty thousand naira.

Mouktar concluded by saying that the Board is determined to do all it needs to make FA and the league be among the best in the country.
