Farmers ask Yero to check cattle rustling

Governor Muktar Ramalan Yero of Kaduna state has been advised to take urgent steps to curb the incessant activities of cattle rustlers who have been invading  Afaka, a settlement on the outskirts of Kaduna town.
In a press release issued yesterday, the Afaka Integrated Farmers’ Cooperative Society cried out to the governor to come to their rescue as the chief security officer of the state.

The statement which was signed by Professor Abubakar Sani Sambo and Alhaji Abubakar Abdullahi, the society’s chairman and secretary respectively, also stated that only last Friday, “about 100 cattle were stolen in broad day light at Kabigra Farms which is situated around Sabon Birni Road.”

According to the group, the Farmers’ Co operative society has contributed immensely to socio-economic development of Kaduna state, adding that their farms employ not less than 100 people.

The group said the activities of the cattle rustlers were giving them sleepless nights and called on the governor to intervene in order to “retrieve all the stolen cows immediately.”
