Our correspondent gathered that trouble started when the herdsman, aged 20, allegedly led his cattle into the suspect’s farm.

According a source, “one cannot exactly say what transpired between both men, but from the look of things, the assailant may have attacked the herdsman for leading his cows into his farm.”

“We know that this is normally the reason that often causes crisis between herdsmen and farmers. The timely intervention of the police saved what would have resulted in a reprisal attack,” the source said.

When contacted, the state Commissioner of Police, Zanna Ibrahim, confirmed the incident, saying the matter was already being investigated.
