Falcons defy heavy rain for Rwanda battle

Ahead of the African Women Championship (AWC) qualifier against Rwanda in Kigali, the Super Falcons yesterday evening intensified preparations by defying a heavy down pour to train for two hours at the Goal Project Pitch of the Abuja National Stadium.
The coaches, led by Edwin Okon, drilled the girls in the art of shooting on target, marking, passing and set pieces on the very wet pitch.
Coach Okon explained the reason why he did not stop the training was because he wanted the players to get used to all weather conditions, stating that it might just be raining in Kigali when they play Rwanda on May 24.
“My girls are used to playing under very hot condition so it is only wise to allow them train inside the rain. We have to prepare for any eventuality. I am happy they could play in the rain,” he stated.
Meanwhile the coach stated that he was looking forward to playing at least two more test games before they depart for Rwanda for the AWC qualifier in a fortnight.
