Experts train senior NSCDC officers on security, leadership, others

Following rising cases of insecurity witnessed across the country and poor leadership qualities, management, banking and financial consultants, Muregi Associates, have held a two-day capacity building workshop for more than 35 officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

The two-day capacity-building workshop held Thursday and Friday at the headquarters of the NSCDC in Abuja, with theme “effective strategy management”, had in attendance the Commandant General (CG) of NSCDC, Abdullahi Gana Muhammed, MD of Muregi Associates, Dr Hussaini I. Muhammed, consultant urologist, Dr Isiaka Lawal, among others.

Addressing newsmen at the event, Commandant General of the NSCDC, Abdullahi Gana Muhammad, who was represented by the Deputy Commandant General in charge of operations, Hilary Kelechi Madu, charged the participants to use the opportunity to learn the necessary skills required to live up to the challenges of their mandates.

He said: “Man management is important, that’s why we selected a renowned organisation like Muregi Associates to train our selected senior officers on effective strategy management. This workshop is very apt at this time; considering the insecurity in the country. Therefore, we will continue training our officers for effective service delivery.

“Our CG always tell people that he believes in the training of officers, especially their welfare and this training on effective strategy management is particularly important because of the perilous times we live in. This is not the first time that the officers are being trained and I am glad it has been helping them in service delivery. I am sure that only the best officers were selected for this workshop and I look forward to their training others.

Also speaking, the MD/ CEO of Muregi Associates, Dr Hussaini Muhammed, said the training is important for the officers in combating insecurity and implored the participants to share the knowledge garnered from the workshop for more awareness.

“We have been holding trainings for organisations in the past ten years. This is the third time of our training NSCDC officers here in Abuja. Strategy is important for the success of any organisation. The CG himself and other senior officers understand the importance of effective strategy management, which is the reason for they asking us to repeat the trainings. The participants were selected from different parts of the country and I have no doubt that they will replicate what they learn here.

“Strategy management involves many things. Knowledge of strategy management will help the officers in combating kidnapping, insecurity and other crimes since they will be aware of risk assessment. We always tell the officers to help disseminate the information to officers in their various commands. Knowledge that is not shared is useless, so they should share the information with others,” he said.
