Security experts and stakeholders have concluded plans to convene the first ever citizen’s conference on environmental security awareness and enforcement in Northern Nigeria.
A press statement signed by convener and organiser of the conference, Ahmed Sadauki, Sadauki, said competing crisis brought about by terrorism is at the top of security challenges threatening economic development, peace and progress of Northern Nigeria.
He said “in conformity with the change mantra of President Buhari, a team of security experts and major stakeholders having studied the worrisome situation proffered a solution.”
The goal of the conference is to promote a more sustainable citizens awareness and involvement in tackling terrorism and other related security challenges.
“Terrorists are now spreading their attacks to soft target areas killing and maiming innocent citizens.
Aside from military operations to arrest the situation, citizens involvement and awareness remains a practical solution towards making our environment safer.”
He said the conference which comes up in December will bring together security agencies, youth leaders, clerics, business leaders, the traditional institution and other major stakeholders to promote citizen’s involvement to tackle terrorism in Northern Nigeria.
Governor of Kaduna state, Nasir el-Rufa’i, he said, would co-host the conference in Kaduna, just as governors, ministers, top federal government officials, corporate bodies, business leaders, among others, are invited as facilitators and partners at the historic conference.
