Ex-SGF, Aminu Saleh, dies at 86

The death has been announced of a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) during the regime of the late Head of State, General Sani Abacha, Alhaji Aminu Saleh.
Aged 86, Saleh who until his death held the traditional title of ‘Wambai’ of
Katagum Emirate Council, Bauchi state, left behind his wife, Hajiya Rabi Aminu Saleh, 15 children and over 70 grand children.
He died yesterday at the Federal Medical Centre, Azare, in Katagum local government area of the state as a result of a protracted illness.

A seasoned civil servant, the late Aminu Saleh held many positions at the state and national levels.
He was the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Secretary to the Federal Government and Minister of Defence and Commerce at various times.
Among his children are the immediate past deputy governor of the state, Alhaji Sagir Aminu Saleh , Alhaji Kabir Aminu Saleh of the Federal Ministry of Mines and Power, and Alhaji Tijjani Aminu Saleh, among others.
