Ex-POWA president lauds association for investing in education

Former President of the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA), Princess Asmau Ndayako Idris, has commended the leadership of the association for sustaining POWA’s tradition of investing in education.

Speaking during the commissioning of POWA International School, Garki II, named after her, Friday in Abuja, she said the school is yet another giant stride in area of support being given by POWA to Police children.

She tasked them to uphold the good qualities the association is known for while being strong pillars of their spouses by playing their roles in the family.

“I have always believed that honouring people while they are alive is better than waiting till they have been passed on to be with their maker.

“I commend POWA for investing in schools; I congratulate you for your thoughtfulness in completing and naming the project after me.

“It is another great achievement for POWA and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF). It will make available opportunity for police children to have access to education within a conducive environment so they can compete favourably with their peers and advance their education.”

She expressed hope that they will have more laudable projects that will have positive impact in the life of their husband, children, and society in general

Earlier, President of POWA, Hajiya Fatima Adamu, said the school: Princess Asma’u Ndayako Idris International, was named after the former POWA president because of her role inspiring the project.

She recalled that Princess Idris was instrumental to having a school on the land having rejected initial idea to have shops constructed on the site and also approved the contract sum of N9 million for the project.
