Ex-perm sec urges youth to shun social vices 

A former permanent secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr John Alhassan-Gana, has urged youth and other Nigerians to desist from social vices capable of tarnishing their image and that of the society.

Gana, a founding member of Loguma Development Association, (LODA), made the call at the inauguration of its seven-man committee in Loguma, Agaie local government area, Niger state.

The former permanent secretary said: “If the youth shun social vices, it will not only promote peace but also bring speedy development to the area and the country at large.

“I congratulate you on your inauguration as LODA officials. I advise you to operate an open- door policy in order to carry everybody along in the interest of peace and development of this association.”

He also urged the LODA officials to live above board while discharging their duties.

Gana admonished the members of the interim committee to consult widely while taking sensitive decisions of the association.

He called on the members and other people to support the officials to succeed.

The former permanent secretary urged the people of the area to live in peace and tolerate one another irrespective of their various affiliations.

In his acceptance speech, the interim chairman of LODA, Mr Daniel Yisa, who won Niger State Best Teacher Award last year, expressed appreciated to members of the association for the confidence reposed in them.

He promised to operate an open door policy and be God-fearing while discharging his duties.

The interim chairman called for the support of all and sundry to enable him succeed.

The other interim committee members included: Sode Mohammed of Power FM, Bida as Vice Chairman one, Idris Abubakar and Alhaji Abubakar Loguma, Vice Chairman two and three.

Others are: Mohammed Baba Diadia as Secretary, Mr Victor Katun-Ahmadu, of the Federal Polytechnic Bida and Abdullahi Ganako as Public Relations Officer.
