Ex-PDP N/chair’s wife joins APC

Wife of the former National Chairman of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Amadu Ali, has joined the ruling All Progressives  (APC) .

Mrs. Marian Ali, who contested and lost the PDP Delta North Senatorial district ticket for 2015 general elections was received at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja by the party’s National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun.

According to her, she left her former party, PDP because of her desire to serve her people and the nation.

Accompanied to the APC national secretariat by the former governorship candidate of Labour Party in Delta State and now chieftain of APC, Chief Great Ogboru, former PENGASSAN Secretary General, Comrade Frank Kokori and the Delta State APC chairman, Mrs Ali said, “A lot of persons may wonder why l am joining the All Progressives Congress (APC) – the answer is very simple -l want to continue to render service to my people and Nigeria at large. I will be doing myself a lot disservice if l don’t fulfill this burning desire in me.”

The APC National Chairman, Chief Odigie -Oyegun who recieved the decampee congratulated her for her decision to leave her husband’s party for APC.

Oyegun said, “But l am glad now that this day has come that you are joining APC because of your determination to render service to your people and the nation, which means that you have looked around, you have looked at your environment in the PDP and you have decided consciously after deep thought that the best vehicle available today on which platform you can render that service is the APC and l want to congratulate you.”

Also, the APC chairman extolled the political influence of Mrs Ali as he said, “It is very clear from the spread, the quality and from the beauty of those who are here today that this is indeed a major event. l have heard news that today was going to happen and l was praying that there should be no change because this is one of those (Mrs. Ali) that gave us trouble and she gave PDP some levels of trouble and they too troubled her.”

Further congratulating her and believing that her joining APC would add value to the party, Odigie-Oyegun said, “l Congratulate you because you are not somebody who is flippant or somebody who is frivolous but somebody who comes from a very serious family background.

“Yes, your husband was the longest serving National chairman of the PDP and it is not as it is a very long ago, it is a very recent past yet you downplayed the impact of what you are doing on the family and the rest of the people but l cannot but believe that this is something that was discussed; this is something that was argued and this is an argument in which you prevailed and l have a strong feeling that those argument will still be in peoples mind; it will keep reoccurring to them as events unfold in the next few weeks, in the next few months and in the next few years. But it is my hope that what you have started  would turn into a family thing.”
