Immediate past National Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Nigeria’s Ambassador-at-Large, Dr. Bamanga Tukur, has called for total restraint and caution on the issue of insurgency and militancy in the country in order to ensure its elimination.
In a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Prince Oliver Okpala, he promised to use all available means and contacts within his reach to ensure that government efforts aimed at wiping out insurgency and terrorism in the country yield positive results.
Under the triple “D” political structure of Dialogue, Defence and Diplomacy, Tukur said concrete efforts would be made to ensure that Nigerians sleep with their two eyes closed 24 hours of the day.
He said in his capacity as Ambassador-at-Large of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, he had the obligation by virtue of his work schedule to establish and work closely with Ambassadors of our neigbouring countries to find out areas of corporation that would help to stamp out terrorism and insurgency in the country.
He said as an elder statesman and one of the founding fathers of the nation’s democracy, the issue of insurgency and terrorism had given him great concern since both work against peace, unity and co-existence in the country.
Tukur called on all Nigerians to support the efforts of the President and the government in trying to destroy and make insurgency and terrorism a thing of the past in the country.
