A onetime military governor of Kaduna state, Air Vice Marshal Muktari Mohammed (retd) is dead.
Mohammed died yesterday in a London hospital at the age of 74.
The late Muktari Mohammed, was flown to London for an undisclosed ailment during the recent Eid elKabir festivity, only to be reported dead yesterday after spending weeks receiving treatment from his doctors.
A close confidant of President Muhammadu Buhari and his course mate at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), the late Wazirin Dutse was also a Federal Commissioner of Works during the military administration of General Murtala Ramat Muhammad before he was appointed Kaduna state military administrator.
At the time General Muhammadu Buhari was toppled in a palace military coup in 1985 that brought General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida to power, the fire brand military officer mooted the idea of voluntarily retiring from the military service on account of the fact that his closest confidant had been toppled and no longer wielding authority at the top echelon of power.
He was the brain behind Buhari’s foray into partisan politics, predicating his belief that, with Buhari’s In, he would make a good president under a democratic dispensation, a notion he had held dear till the time when Buhari agreed to enter the race for the Presidency, which culminated in his landslide victory in the 2015
