Ex-gov Goje’s son joins guber race

Eldest son of former Governor Danjuma Goje of Gombe state, Ahmad Goje, has thrown his hat into the ring for the governorship position at the 2019 general election.
He is to contest for the gubernatorial ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
His father who presently represents Gombe central at the senate governed the state between 2003 and 2011 under the PDP’s platform.
He was a leading member of the new PDP that joined the All Progressives Party (APC) in 2014 after he fell out with his anointed successor, Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo.
But Ahmad Goje did not join APC and was appointed as Special Adviser and Managing Director of Gombe Leasing Company by Dankwambo in 2016.
He told newsmen after submitting his form in Gombe yesterday that he joined the race to contribute his quota towards the development of the state.
He assured the people that he joined the race to practice politics without bitterness if he emerges as the party’s flag bearer in the forthcoming primary elections.
“I join the race to also contribute towards the development of our dear state.
We believe that the party will conduct a free and fair primary election, therefore even if I failed to secure the ticket, I promise to support whoever will emerge as the gubernatorial candidate of our great party,” he said.
In his response, state chairman of the party, Mr. Joel Adamu Jagafa assured Goje that the party will conduct a free and fair primary election without imposing any candidate.
