Ex-Army Chief Malu dies at 70

A former Chief of Amy Staff , Lt.- Gen. Victor Samuel Leonard Malu, is dead.
According to his nephew, Mr. Bem Adoor, who broke the news on his Facebook timeline around 1:25pm yesterday, he died in a Cairo hospital in Egypt at age of 70.
Th e Late General was the nation’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS) from 1999 to 2001; he was also the Force Commander of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) peace-keeping force (ECOMOG) in Liberia from 1996 to 1998.
Malu was born on January 15, 1947, at Tse-Adoor in KatsinaAla , Benue state and enrolled in the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna, in 1967, as part of the 3rd Regular Course and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant enlisted upon graduation in 1970.
Before his death, he was down with stroke, and died during one of the routine journeys to receive medical attention.
