Ex-Anambra PDP chair joins race for APGA top seat

The Anambra state former chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Ifeatu Obi-Okoye, has joined the race for chairmanship position of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in the state.

He said he is the best to match opposition political parties.

Obi-Okoye, a former national publicity secretary of APGA and special adviser on politics to immediate past Governor Willie Obiano, in a press conference Wednesday, said he has a passion, capacity, qualification, innovation and experience to reposition the party.

He said: “Our party, APGA, needs an experienced and passionate politician to confront the issues at 2025 because there will be a big political battle. In 2025, APGA will be contesting with political parties like Labour Party (LP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“When LP finishes from the Supreme Court, their next ambition will be to capture Anambra state. I also believe APC will become stronger with Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the president-elect. This informed my interest in the race because we must have a chairman who understands the battle front and has the capacity to plot and confront issues.”

He said his emergence would help to complement the vision of Governor Charles Soludo, who is the national leader of APGA, promote public service delivery, restore and strengthen the party at the national and state levels, and make the political party the largest in the country.

“At the National Assembly, our strength dropped from five to four while at the state assembly, it dropped from 24 to 16, though we are the majority, but it was not palatable for us,” he stated.
