The Etsu Yahaya Abubakar Foundation in Niger state has provided free medical support to about 10,000 people.

The inauguration of the free medical outreach was done at the Wadata Palace in Bida.

Speaking at the inauguration of the initiative, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Saad Abubakar, explained that the programme was coming at a time most Nigerians cannot afford to pay for such medical care.

Abubakar, who commended the Etsu Nupe for the laudable efforts, called for more collaboration to reduce poverty and improve public health.

He stated that it was the only way sustainability can be achieved and to assist the indigent Nigerians.

In a message, Governor Umar Bago directed all the MDAs in the state to work closely with the foundation to achieve the desired objective.

This, Bago said, would complement government’s efforts to accelerate development in the state.

Bago, who was represented by the Commissioner for Environment, Alhaji Yakubu Kolo, lauded the Etsu Nupe for the initiative to cater for the welfare of the common persons in the society.
