Transactions on the floor of Nigerian Exchange (NGX) on Friday sustained growth profile, appreciating by N371 billion as gain recorded in small and medium stocks lifted market activities during the day.
The market capitalisation of listed equities increased by 0.57 per cent to N65.592 trillion from N65.221 trillion reported the previous day.
The NGX All Share Index also appreciated by 608.14 basis points to 105933.03 points from 105324.89 points recorded on Thursday.
The positive performance recorded during the day was driven by gains in the shares of Afri Prudential, AccessCorp, Eterna Plc, Nascon, Transcorps, Zenith Bank, Fidelity Bank, Cadbury Nigeria Plc, Livestock Feeds and 28 other firms.
As a result year to date return went up to 2.97 per cent as 37 per cent closed in green against 17 firms that took a downward trend.
An analysis of the investment showed that Academy press and Cadbury Nigeria Plc led gainers table, appreciating by 9.93 per cent each to close at N2.99 and N29.35 per share respectively.
Eterna Plc followed with a gain of 9.90 per cent to close at N36.65 per unit, Livestock Feeds added 9.85 per cent to close at N5.80 per unit, UPDC added 9.75 per cent to close at N2.59 per share.
On the contrary, Multiverse topped losers chart, dropping by 9.95 per cent to close at N9.05 per unit, Mecure trailed with a loss of 9.71 per cent to close at N12.55 per unit, NPFMicro MicroFinance Bank declined by 7.94 per cent to close at N1.74 per unit, Learn Africa down by 4.44 per cent to close at N4.30 per unit, Tantalizer dipped by 3.85 per cent to close at N2.00 per share.
The volume of trades declined by 63.205 million, representing 11.77 per cent as investors traded 473.983 million shares valued at N13.370 billion in 12793 deals against 537.188 million shares costing N23.025 billion in 15450 deals.
Trading in the shares of Zenith Bank led market activities with 108.779 million shares worth N4.994 billion, Cutix Plc followed with account of 24.310 million shares cost N58.740 million, AccessCorp traded 23.643 million shares valued at N657.663 million, Sterling Bank exchange 22.792 million shares worth N436.028 million while Fidelity Bank traded 20.441 million shares valued at N42.283 million
