Equity market opens week in bullish run, gains N145bn

Trading activities on the floor of Nigerian Stock Exchange yesterday opened week in a positive note, appreciating by N145 billion.
Specifically, Market Capitalisation of listed equities increased by 0.71 per cent to N20.663 trillion from N20.518 trillion reported on Friday.
The NSE All Share Index also appreciated by 277.17 basis points to 39493.37 from 39216.20 points traded previously.


Investors traded a total of 522.174 million shares valued at N10.650 billion in 4566 deals against 250.923 million shares worth N2.790 billion exchanged hands the previous day in 3746 deals.
A review of the transactions for the day showed that Courtville Business Solutions Plc led gainers table during the day, appreciating by 10 per cent or N0.02 kobo to close at N0.22 kobo, Custodian and Allied Insurance followed with a gain of 10 per cent or N0.60 kobo to close at N6.60 kobo, Linkage Assurance added 9.80 per cent or N0.05 kobo to close at N0.56 kobo, Caverton grew by 9.52 per cent or N0.18 kobo to close at N2.07 kobo, Jaiz Bank increased by 8.47 per cent or N0.05 kobo to close at N0.64 kobo.


On the contrary, Cornerstone Insurance recorded the highest loss for the day, dropping by 9.84 per cent or N0.06 kobo to close at N0.55 kobo, Oando PLC trailed with a loss of 6.06 per cent or N0.20 kobo to close at N3.10 kobo, Honey Well Flour Mills declined by 4.84 per cent or N0.06 kobo to close at N1.18 kobo, PZ Cusson fell by 3.00 per cent or N0.15 kobo to close at N4.85 kobo, FCMB group dipped by 2.68 per cent or N0.08 kobo to close at N2.90 kobo.


The NSE trading result indicated that Guaranty Trust Bank was the most active stock during the day, exchanging 230.371 million shares valued at N7.386 billion, Union Bank of Nigeria followed with account of 79.220 million shares worth N419.837 million, Wema Bank PLC traded 51.942 million shares cost N31.703 million, Transnational Corporation of Nigeria exchanged 18.685 million shares valued at N14.967 million, Courtville sold a total of 16.849 million shares cost N3.706 .
