Equity market gains N86bn

Trading activity on the floor of Nigerian Exchange remained upbeat as local stock market experienced a bullish session, gaining N86 billion.

Market capitalisation of listed equities appreciated by 0.22 per cent to N39.649 trillion from N39.563 trillion reported the previous day.

The NGX All Share Index also increased by 156.04 basis points to 72455.83 points from 72299.79 points reported the previous day.

A review of the Investment showed that Infinity Savings led gainers table in percentage terms, gaining 9.83 per cent to close at N2.57 per share, JohnHolt followed with a gain of 9.73 per cent to close at N2.03 per unit, Ikeja Hotel added 9.20 per cent to close at N4.75 per unit, Daar Communications and ETranzact gained 7.69 per cent each to close at N0.42 and N7.00 per share.

Conversely, RTBriscoe topped losers charity declining by 9.84 per cent to close at N0.55 per unit, UPDC REIT trailed with a loss of 9.78 per cent to N4.15 per unit, Mutual Benefits down by 9.43 per cent to close at N0.48 per unit, Omatek fell by 7.79 per cent to close at N0.71 per share while Sovereign Trust Insurance dipped by 7.69 per cent to close at N0.36 per unit.

Volume of transactions increased by 13.402 million shares , indicating an increase of 3.09 per cent as investors traded 446.582 million shares valued at N7.255 billion in 6845 deals against 433.180 million shares worth N8.076 billion in 6650 deals.

Transactions in the shares of AccessCorp led market activities with 77.254 million shares valued at N175.596 million, FCMB group followed with account of 45.235 million shares cost N318.608 million, Zenith Bank exchanged 37.289 million shares cost N1.380 billion , United Bank for Africa sold a total of 29.300 million shares valued at N724.064 million, Fidelity Bank exchanged 27.512 million shares worth N257.281 million.
