Equity market gains N3bn

Transactions on the floor of Nigerian Stock Exchang yesterday sustained growth profile , gaining N3 billion.

Specifically, Market Capitalisation of listed equities increased by 0.02 per cent to N14.519 trillion from N14.516 trillion traded the previous day.  The Nigerian Stock Exchange All Share Index appreciated by 6.53 basis points to 27878.43 points from 27871.90 points  reported on Tuesday. investors traded 81.903 million shares worth N1.068 billion in 2414 deals against 276.268 million shares valued at N3.706 billion exchanged hands the previous day in 3690 deals.

A review of investment indicated that Access Bank led gainers table during the day, appreciating by N0.20 kobo to close at N9.80 kobo, UAC of Nigeria Plc followed with a gain of N0.20 kobo to close at N9.50 kobo, United Bank for Africa gained N0.15 kobo to close at N7.85 kobo, Africa Prudential gained N0.10 kobo to close at N4.70 kobo, FBNHoldings added N0.05 kobo to close at N5.95 kobo.

On the contrary,Guinness Nigeria Plc recorded the highest loss during the day, declining by N2.20 kobo to close at N28.00, Vitafoam Nigeria Plc trailed with a loss of N0.50 kobo to close at N4.50 kobo, Sky Avn fell by N0.32 kobo to close at N3.05 kobo, Flour Mills Nigeria Plc down by N0.30 kobo to close at N22.50 kobo while Cadbury Nigeria Plc sheds N0.30 kobo to close at N9.10 kobo.

The result further showed that Zenith Bank Plc was the most active stock during the day, exchanging 17.497 million shares worth N350.094 million, Guaranty Trust Bank Plc followed with account of 13.434 million shares valued at N389.779 million, United Bank of Africa traded 6.647 million shares cost N52.273 million, FBNHoldings sold a total of 5.784 million shares cost N34.446 million while Japaul traded 5.427 million shares valued at N1.302 million.
