Equity Market closes higher, gains N259bn 

Trading activities on the floor of Nigerian Exchange on Thursday closed northward, appreciating by N259 billion.

Market capitalisation of listed equities increased by 0.46 per cent to N56.158 trillion from N55.899 trillion it closed on Wednesday.

The NGX All Share Index also went up by 457.99 basis points to 99276.03 points from 97818.04 points reported the previous day.

The positive performance during the trading was driven by gain recorded in the stocks of  Seplat Energy, FBNHoldings, Eterna, Nigerian Breweries, United Bank for Africa, Zenith, AccessCorp and 25 others.

A review of the investment during the day showed that International General Insurance and Seplat Energy led gainers table with 10 per cent to close at N1.54 and N3410.00 per share respectively. Eterna followed with a gain of 9.87 per cent to N12.25 per unit, Conhall Plc added 9.84 per cent to close at N1.34 per unit, Japaul Gold added 9.73 per cent to close at N2.03 per unit.

On the contrary,  Cornerstone Insurance topped losers chart, dropping by 8.81 per cent to N1.76 per share, Prestige insurance trailed with a drop of 8.47 per cent to close at N0.54 per unit, Universal Insurance dipped by 5.71 per cent to close at N0.33 per unit, Sterling Bank down by 4.05 per cent to close at N4.03 per share, Transnational Corporation of Nigeria fell by 1.28 per cent to close at N11.60 per unit.
