Enugu airport rehabilitation: Nnamani speaks on Ugwuanyi’s development agenda

The Senator representing Enugu East, Sen. Chimaroke Nnamani, have commended Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State over his effort in the rehabilitation of Akanu Ibiam International Airport.

In a statement signed by the senator and issued to newsmen in Abuja Friday, Nnamani commended the governor for his commitment and relentless effort over the airport reopened after one year of closure.

He said that Governor Ugwuanyi has lived up to expectation of overseeing the primary and central city of Igbo land, adding that not only did he coordinate and champion the activities by directly involving the rehabilitation of the airport project on daily basis.

He praised the governor for the bold steps taken to relocate the Emene market abattoir, Enugu State Broadcasting Service (ESBS) mast and other structures that were hitherto obstructions to smooth operations at the airport.

Nnamani said that he was pleased that Ugwuanyi, who now leads the Ebeano political family, has demonstrated statesmanship, courage and leadership as governor of the coal city State that is now a pride to Igbo land.

He recalled that as a governor of the state for two terms, he ensured that the portraits of the Governors of the five Igbo States; Abia, Anambra. Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo were displayed at the Executive Lounge of the Airport.

He reiterated that Governor Ugwuanyi’s style of leadership anchored on equity and justice has sustained and indeed improved on the peace, unity and development of Enugu State.

“I welcome with excitement the news of the reopening of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport that serves as the gateway to the Igbo area of Nigeria. This is consistent with the role expected of the governor of Enugu State to symbolize total Igbo social and cultural appropriation of the city of Enugu,” he said.
