End SARS for human rights

Men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) intimidate, harass and brutalise innocent citizens without cause.

Therefore, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Idris, may want to scrap or modify it in the interest of Nigerians and of their rights.

In the interest of society, the IG and indeed the Police Forcde must understand that their primary responsibility is to protect human lives and uphold their dignity, rather than claim any. Security agencies should focus more on internal discipline of their operatives and emphasise diligence in dispensing their duties.

While we appreciate the effort of the police to reduce crime to the minimum in our society, it must identify with the global call for the respect and protection of human dignity.
