The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, has advocated for inclusion of more women in politics.
The emir made the call while receiving Senator Oluremi Tinubu, wife of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in his palace Wednesday.
He said women’s involvement in politics will better the development of the nation.
He further stated that women have important role to play in the growth and progress of Nigeria’s democracy, adding that women would always gain the opportunity to occupy position of leadership through credible and peaceful election.
Emir Bayero also commended Senator Oluremi Tinubu for the visit, saying it will bring her the opportunity to discuss and appreciate issues bordering women in the state and Nigeria at large.
In her remarks, Senator Oluremi Tinubu who was escorted by the First Lady of Kano state, Professor Hafsat Abdullahi Ganduje, said she was at the palace to pay homage to the royal father and also intimate him of her desire to have a town hall meeting with women in the state ahead February 25 presidential election.
