Schalke 04 forward Chinedu Ogbuke Obasi has tipped Emmanuel Emenike to outshine Lionel Messi when Nigeria and Argentina clash at the World Cup Finals in Brazil.
Obasi was one of the surprise exclusions from Nigeria 30-man provisional squad for the World Cup, will also back the Super Eagles to shock the world in Brazil.
“Argentina have a way of intimidating opponents with threats of Messi. These Eagles could cause a huge upset in Brazil as there are a lot of quality players who can do well in Brazil,” Obasi told AfricanFootball.com
“I believe Emmanuel Emenike will wreck Argentina in Brazil. He will punish them, I hope he translates his form with Fenerbahce to the Eagles in Brazil, especially against Argentina.
“If Argentina want to progress beyond the group stage, they must respect Eagles,” he noted.
Nigeria will face Argentina for the fourth time in the World Cup on June 25 in Porto Alegre.
Obasi also restated his commitment to Nigeria despite being left out of the World Cup Finals after a late flourish with his German Bundesliga club.
“I am still serving Nigeria; my heart is always with the national team. I have always been there as one of the deserving players. But I must respect the decision of the coach. He’s the chief coach; he has his reasons for dropping those he dropped and for those he called up.
“Now, we are talking about Nigeria as a team not Keshi as a person. Even if Keshi were the team, I would still support him for the fact that he’s a Nigerian. Things like this happen.
“For how long am I going to be sad over my exclusion from World Cup? I shouldn’t be holding grudges, instead I pray for them and support my country to excel and make us all proud,” he said.
