Ekweremadu condoles with Jim Nwobodo over son’s death

Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu, has condoled with the former Governor of old Anambra state, Senator Jim Nwobodo, over the death of his first son, Ifeanyichukwu.
In a statement issued yesterday in Abuja by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Uche Anichukwu, Ekweremadu described the late Dr. Ifeanyichukwu Nwobodo Jr. as “an illustrious son and a promising leader who had a great future ahead of him,” noting that the death was, therefore, a grievous loss not only to the Nwobodo family and Enugu state, but also the nation in general.

He said: “Senator Jim Nwobodo is one man who set the pace in good governance and grassroots development as the former Governor of the old Anambra state comprising Enugu, Ebonyi, and Anambra state and as Senator representing Enugu East Senatorial District between 1999 and 2003. It was not surprising therefore that Dr. Ifeanyi took after his father in the pursuit of the progress and development of Enugu state, serving as commissioner in the state.
“We expected him to rebound from the ailment to continue his meritorious service to fatherland, to actualise the higher political call and great future that lay ahead of him. So, to my family and I and indeed my entire constituency, this is a huge loss”.

The Deputy President of the Senate, who also doubles as the Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, urged the Nwobodo family in particular and the good people of Enugu state to bear the grave loss with equanimity.
He prayed for the peaceful repose of the gentle of the departed medical doctor.
