Ekiti 2018: Accord Party, APDA form alliance against PDP

The Advance Peoples Democratic Alliance (APDA) Ekiti state chapter and Accord Party have formed an alliance to wrestle power from the PDP in the July 14 governorship election. This was contained in release issued by Accord Party State Publicity Secretary, Deacon Joseph Lanre Anifowose, after the merger talk paid glowing tributes to the leaderships of the parties for the merger.

It lauded the manifestoes of Accord Party especially its Agric Revolution programme stressing that it remains the only party that could address the yearnings and aspiration of Ekiti people. The released showed that Accord Party was represented by a former Chieftain of Advance Peoples Democratic Party (APDA) Elder Agbabiaka, Akogun Banji Ojo and Chief Samuel Abiola Odeoba while the APDA chieftains included High Priest Lawrence Aruleba, Pastor Makinde the APDA State Secretary, Mrs Adewumi APDA State Women Leader, among other stakeholders.

They said the political atmosphere of Ekiti State has been heightened with the fusion of the two parties stressing that they have resolved to combine forces against the ruling PDP government in Ekiti adding that they have what it would take to clinch power in 2018.

Major speakers at the meeting said the merger was like a family re-union, and described the merger proactive and aggressive plot to unseat the PDP government. While addressing the stakeholders at the merger talk, a gubernatorial aspirant of Accord Party, Akogun Banji Ojo, presented the party manifesto and expressed his delight about the merger.

He said all members shall be given equal opportunity to participate in the affairs of the party irrespective of when they joined the party and wherever they come from. He noted that Accord Party believe in equity, justice and fairplay to all for this is the only way reasonable progress can be made and listed cultivation of 100,000 hectares of cocoa plantation across the 3 senatorial district of the State, Igbemo local Rice Revolution, Plantain and Banana in Ekiti South/ West (Ilawe), Social security and Youth/Women Empowerments among others.
