Eid-el Maulud: Kebbi donates prosthetic aids to disabled

In a bid to improve the living condition of people with disability, the wife of Kebbi state governor, Hajiya Aisha Atiku Bagudu, has flagged off the distribution of prosthetic aids to persons with special needs drawn a cross the 21 local government areas of the state.
Speaking at the flagging off ceremony at the premises of the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development yesterday, Hajiya Aishat said that the aim was to assist as well as to promote the living conditions and the rights of person living with disabilities in the society.
The governor’s wife said the occasion which coincided with the International Day of Persons with Disability 2017, was set aside to recognise the vital role they play in the overall development of their immediate communities and the lager society.
“If we deny them their own human dignity, capacity for freedom, choice and welfare, it becomes self denial, a denial of both our collective and individual dignity at all levels of the society,” she added.
In her remarked, the acting Permanent Secretary Ministry of Women Affairs, Hajiya Hassana Hassan Warah, commended the efforts of the state government for supporting the less privileged in the state, adding that the theme of this year’s disabled;”Transformation Towards Sustainable and Resilient Society for all,” was timely.
Items distributed included motorcycles, tricycles, clutches, walking sticks, hearing aids and shoes for lepers, all donated by the government with a view to giving them a sense of belonging.
