In a bid to further enhance the regulatory functions of the council, the Environmental Health Council of Nigeria, (EHCON), has set a new practice standard for the improvement of environmental health practices.
The Registrar/CEO, of EHCON, Dr. Yakubu Mohammed Baba, disclose this recently while declaring open a technical review on draft guidelines for environmental health practice, in Abuja.
He said that the aim of this workshop is to strengthen the practice and also reposition the convention of environmental health as part of the agenda to rebranding process of environmental health.
“The guidelines will bring sanity and harmony in the practice of environment health.
Dr Baba stressed that the focus is to create practitioners who will have knowledge and skills in one or two areas in environmental health.
Also speaking, University of Technology, Warri, Prof Agu Amadi, states that guidelines are meant to reposition practitioners on what to do.
He further states that the aim is to improve public health in the institutions as well as in the communities and this guidelines will impact very positively.
The Chief Facilitor, Prof Shehu Mohammad, stressed that the review of the documents, guidelines and policies is to implement environmental health services in the various states and local government.
“We are developing document that will enhance to train our skilled professionals in their daily activities,” he said.
Prof Mohammad said is to ensure that the document contain relevant information, guidelines and procedures in the environmental health.
