Dolphins head coach, Stanley Eguma, was delighted after seeing his side thrash Nembe City 6-0 at the Liberation Stadium on Wednesday, and singled out six-goal hero Emem Eduok for extra praise.
Eduok scored three goals in each half, to set a new record for most goals scored by an individual in a Nigerian league match.
Eguma told supersport.com: “It was a sweet victory for us. We never expected to win this way, but the goals just came.
“However, we were better than our opponents. We got the chances and we converted them.
“I give special kudos to Emem Eduok. He was fantastic today. He was marvellous.
“The goals were well worked out. He put in a lot of effort and was rewarded with lots of goals.
“This is a brilliant individual performance and it shows he is really focused.”
Eguma, however, warned his players not to let the victory get to their heads.
“I also commend the team, but they should know the season isn’t over yet, as there are still a couple of matches left,” he said.
“Our objective remains winning a trophy or at least making it to the continent.
“I believe today’s performance has brightened our chances, but we don’t have to relent in our efforts.”
Dolphins are now fourth in the Glo Premier League with 54 points from 35 matches.
